Dr. Richard B. Knight

Our philosophy is that it is better to treat problems while they are still small, rather than wait to identify them when they have become more extensive and expensive to treat.

Optimal dental health requires excellent professional care which is accomplished through evaluation of medical history, dental records, thorough oral cancer screening, evaluation of the teeth and supporting tissue, and may include periodic full mouth radiographs.

What does this mean? We take the time to evaluate each patient individually and provide them with care that fits their needs. We provide our patients with complete periodontal (gum) examination in addition to evaluation for decay. We will not only assess the health of your gums and bone, we will also assess the health of your teeth. We will answer your questions and bring in other specialists as needed. We take great pride in providing complete care for our patients.

I graduated from the School of Dentistry at the Oregon Health Sciences University in 1979. For the first two years after completing my dental degree, I taught and practiced dentistry at the Mt. Hood Community College Dental Hygiene Program. In 1981, I purchased a general dental practice in Portland and moved to our present location in 1985. I currently practice four days a week in the office and teach one half-day at OHSU School of Dentistry.

My staff and I are pleased to welcome you to our practice. Our office and procedures are designed for your comfort and our staff members are devoted to making your visits enjoyable.

My staff is dedicated to providing the very best care possible. We focus on preventive periodontal and restorative care. We work closely with a fine group of specialists throughout the Portland metro area in prosthodontics, periodontics, endodontics, orthodontics, and oral surgery.

We meet or exceed all OSHA and Centers for Disease Control (CDC) requirements regarding sterilization and asepsis.
